Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt airport is the third busiest airport in Europe and it is the ninth busiest in the world. The owners and operators of Frankfurt airport are a company known as Fraport AG which has airlines all across the globe, including Lufthansa. It is about twelve kilometres to the southwest of the city centre at Frankfurt and it is in the Rhine-Main area in Germany. The intersection that connects this airport is the Frankfurter Kreuz and this is the intersection where route A3 and A5 meet; is also accessible through route A67. Frankfurt airport has four long runways, and more than fifty six million passengers passed through its terminal in 2011 alone. Lufthansa considers it its second hub, and other airlines from all over the world arrive and depart here.

There are various hotels, including five star hotels such as Steigenberger and Sheraton Hotels. There are also four star hotels such as Intercity Hotels and Park Inn Airport Hotel.

There are two main terminals, T1 and T2, though there are plans underway to build a third terminal known as T3 as well as a separate terminal for Lufthansa first class.

A unique attraction at the airport is the salon as well as a casino, and the shopping plaza at terminal two has great shops as well as a space from which travellers can get a picturesque view of the nearby Taunus Mountains.
